Well well well, what have we here, according to some critics another failure of the Wachowskis brothers, but if you are listing to us, which we believe you do as you are reading this right now, V for Vendetta should be remembered as something completely different than a failure.
This comic adaptation is set in London 2020, Great Britain is ruled by the fascist high Chancellor Sutler (John Hurt) who got his power by using fear as a method, promising a secure future in a world pushed into chaos by a deadly virus, which eliminated half of the world population, in exchange of everyone’s freedom. But there is one man who stands against this government, a mysterious figure known as V (Hugo Weaving) using terrorist ways to fight against the oppressive regime. Evy Hammond (Nathalie Portman) becomes his ally by coincidence, well if you believe in coincidence of course. V rescues her from being raped by the government’s special police. V is the central character, quoting Macbeth and showing the most incredible linguistic talents. He wears a mask of the smiling face of Guy Fawkes, who in the year 1605 tried to blow up the parliament. Again like centuries before, this 5th of November should be remembered, and at the eve of that day V starts his fight...
